ALAM, Mohammed Badrul

Mohammed Badrul Alam is a Professor at the Department of Political Science, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Before joining Jamia Milia Islamia University in January 2006, he was a Professor of Area Studies at the Miyazaki International College, Japan, for eight years. Prior to that, he was in USA for fifteen years as a Ph.D research scholar and a faculty member at several universities/colleges in New York and Kentucky. Dr.Alam has earned Ph.D, M.Phil, M.A degrees from Cornell University (New York, USA), Jawaharlal Nehru University (Delhi) and Utkal University (Bhubaneswar) respectively. A prolific scholar and writer, Dr Alam has written for Journal of East Asian Affairs, Pacific Affairs, Journal of Third World Studies, The American Historical Review, Comparative Culture, The Indonesian Quarterly, Heidelberg Series on Comparative and Contemporary South Asia, among others. He is also a recipient of several prestigious awards including Fulbright Fellowship, Salzburg Global Fellowship, Shastri Canadian Studies Fellowship, Baden-Wuerrtemberg Fellowship.

KUJUR, Rajat Kumar

Rajat Kumar Kujur, is an Assistant Professor with the Post Graduate Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Sambalpur University, Orissa. His academic areas of interests include national security and internal conflict issues. Rajat holds a PhD in Political Science (Politics of Naxalism) from the Centre for Political Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has co-authored a book on Naxalism titled Maoism in India: Reincarnation of the Ultra Left Extremism in the Twenty First Century, (Routledge, London, 2009). He is closely associated with the Society for Study in Peace and Conflict since its inception.

LELE, Ajey Viswanath

Ajey V. Lele (Ph. D) is presently working as a Research Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), New Delhi. He specializes on issues related to Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) with focus on Chemical and Biological Weapons, Space and Strategic Technologies. He has authored three books and has also edited three books. His recent book was published by Sage (2009) titled ‘Strategic Technologies for the Military’. He has written for Strategic Analysis, Indian Defence Review, Space Policy and Astropolitics. He is also, the Executive Editor of the journal CBW Magazine.

MOHANTY, Deba Ranjan

Deba R. Mohanty is a Senior Fellow in Security Studies at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), New Delhi. Before joining ORF, he had served as an Associate Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), New Delhi. He was a Senior Visiting Fellow at the South Asian Strategic Stability Unit at the Department of Peace Studies, University of Bradford, UK (December 2005 – February 2006). Earlier, he was a Ford Visiting Fellow at the Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC), Germany (September 2002 – March 2003). His writings on security studies have found place in Military Technology, Bulletin of Arms Control, Strategic Analysis, Air Power, Force and National Review. He has been associated with the Society for Study in Peace and Conflict since its inception.

PANDA, Ranjan Kumar
Ranjan K Panda, a sociologist by education, is a senior researcher and development practitioner, currently leading Water Initiatives Odisha (WIO), a network of civil society, media, farmers, researchers and other stakeholders, which works on water, environment and climate change issues. He has got more than two decades of experience in working directly with communities on development and environmental projects; researching and writing. He has extensively contributed to publications such as Down To Earth, Infochange India, Terra Green, Deccan Herald. He has just bagged the prestigious NDTV Green Hero award for his outstanding contribution in the field of water conservation and management; and has been widely profiled as the Water Man of Odisha and Climate Crusader. He has been part of several national and international networks and research projects and has been writing on water conflicts, climate change induced migration, water management, etc. issues. He also edits “Panira Dagara”, a quarterly newsletter on water in Odia language published by WIO. He has been associated with the Society for Study in Peace and Conflict since its inception.

ROUL, Animesh

Animesh Roul is Co-founder and presently, the Executive Director (Research) the Society for the Study of Peace and Conflict. He served as a Research Fellow (Coordinator) at SSPC between Sept. 2004- Aug. 2006. In his earlier stint, he worked as a Research Associate at New Delhi based Institute for Conflict Management (ICM). His areas of interest are terrorism, arms control and proliferation, armed conflict, and security developments in the South Asian region. Associated with a number of media and policy organizations in India and abroad, he has written articles in the Jamestown Foundation Terrorism Monitor, ISN Security Watch, CBW Magazine, Open Democracy, the CTC Sentinel and NBR Analysis. Roul is the recipient of MacArthur Foundation’s Asia Security Initiative Blogger award for 2009 and 2010, and he also blogged frequently at the Counterterrorism Foundation’s blog on South Asian terrorism issues between 2006-2011.

ROUL, Avilash

Avilash Roul (Ph.D) is the Executive Director of the Forum on ADB since March 2010. He has been writing, advocating, researching and creating knowledge on Environment and Development since 2000. Earlier, he worked with Down to Earth (magazine published fortnightly from the Center for Science and Environment in New Delhi, India) and worked as the Assistant South Asia Regional Coordinator for the Bank Information Center (BIC). He has contributed articles and research papers in the New Sunday Express, Down to Earth and EcoWorld.

TABRAZ, S. S.

S S Tabraz is Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Humanities & Social Sciences at IIT Madras. He had a stint as lecturer in Pondicherry University, after completing Doctoral programme from the School of International Studies (SIS), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has written for Islam and the Modern Age, Economic & Political Weekly and Peace & Conflict Monitor (PCM). He has been associated with the Society for Study in Peace and Conflict since its inception.

SAKHUJA, Vijay

Dr Vijay Sakhuja is Director (Research), Indian Council of World Affairs, a leading think tank in New Delhi. He is also Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), Singapore since 2006. Earlier, Dr Vijay Sakhuja was Senior Fellow at the Centre for Air Power Studies, Observer Research Foundation, and Research Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, and United Service Institution of India, all at New Delhi. A former Indian Navy officer, Dr Vijay Sakhuja received his Doctorate from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is author of ‘The Rise of Asian Maritime Power in the Twenty-first Century: Challenges for South East Asian Security’ (2011) and ‘Confidence Building from the Sea: An Indian Initiative’ (2000). He is also co-editor of Nagapatinam to Swarndweepa: Reflections on Chola Naval Expedition to Southeast Asia (2010) and Marine Biodiversity & Fisheries Exploitation in the Indian Ocean: Threats and Opportunities (2009). He has been associated with the Society for Study in Peace and Conflict since its inception.
