Dr Mukherjee is an IOFS officer in the rank of Director to the Government of India. Presently, he is on deemed deputation at the Gun & Shell Factory, Kolkata, under AWEIL, Ministry of Defence. He earned his PhD in 2007 from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Department of Atomic Energy, and qualified for the UPSC Civil Services in May 2007. He has been widely published in national and international journals, books, and think tank papers on insurgency, terrorism, and counterinsurgency. He dedicates this work to the memory of his mother, Anusua Mukherjee, who passed away in the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
